Watch Dark Tea's "Deanna" Video, Self Titled LP out in April!
TODAY - Dark Tea returns with a new track and video from the forthcoming self-titled second album out April 30 on Fire Talk Records. Co-directed by Dark Tea's Gary Canino and Current Joy’s Nick Rattigan, the video is a send up on LA neo-noir crime dramas complete with a Hollywood Hills’ shadowy hideout and a climax that rivals any apogee from the 1980s pulp canon.
“Deanna” is a juggernaut, with production help and bravura arrangement from guitarist Noah Kohll, who bolstered the track with an overdriven introduction, a graceful piano interlude and California back-up vocals that were only hinted at in Dark Tea’s previous recordings.
"For the video, we wanted to create a complete work of fiction. My co-director Nick Rattigan and I were inspired by LA noir and the concept that Los Angeles itself is the dark heart of crime writing and film. For us, nothing really tops Michael Mann’s Heat or William Friedkin’s To Live and Die in LA.
