Today we’re thrilled to announce we've signed deathcrash in the states & are partnering w/untitled (recs) to bring you new LP Less!
Less is the new album from deathcrash available digitally/on vinyl from Fire Talk. Line of Best Fit says they “capture the otherworldly intensities of Explosions In The Sky, & their dynamic contrasting guitars hint at post-rock greats Mogwai, there remains a slowcore quietude bleeding through in line with Low or Codeine,” receiving further press accolades from Loud & Quiet, Clash, & Brooklyn Vegan. The band is touring the UK extensively playing tastemaker festivals like End of the Road, Green Man, & Pitchfork London.
Less is a record that is as powerful and potent as it is tender and introspective, with arrangements that manage to feel refined yet detailed and with a deep emotional resonance at the core of the record. Banks’ voice shifts from hushed whispers to guttural screams. In the same versatile fashion, the band glides from delicate and skeletal arrangements that emphasise reflective pauses and pondering silences, to moments of fierce and punchy dynamism. The record is even more all out there because it is also a depiction of a period of change for the band, who have experienced personal issues that have altered life significantly. “When you've been so invested in one way of living and you have to reimagine your world after that, that's a very confusing and complicated time,” Banks says. “It forces you to re-evaluate aspects of yourself and people around you and how to feel in moments of big change and separation.” However, despite feelings of pain, sadness, change, loss, grief and separation underpinning much of the record, it’s ultimately one rooted in unity and growth - in terms of the band becoming an ever-increasingly tight force and evolving to cement an even more distinct, unique and innovative sound.
