Robber Robber Present New Single/Video, "New Year's Eve"
Robber Robber — the undefinable Burlington quartet of Nina Cates (vocals/guitar), Zack James (percussion), Will Krulak (guitar), and Carney Hemler (bass) — will release their new album, Two Wheels Move the Soul, this Friday via Fire Talk Records. Today, Robber Robber presents Two Wheels Move the Soul’s final advance single/video, “New Year’s Eve.” Two Wheels Move the Soul spans post-punk scorchers, burnt-out slacker anthems, and melodies to sweeten the bitter pills swallowed along the way. “Yes I know, gotta work for my pay,” Cates exhales on standout “New Year’s Eve,” a swaggering depiction of life’s myriad impediments. “I’m tired, so is everyone - how can I complain?”
“Some of our songs start out as the four of us jamming together and this one was like that,” Cates says of “New Year’s Eve.” Accompanied alongside a time-travelling video by Noah Lenker, the “New Year’s Eve” video distills Robber Robber’s acid-soaked tongue-in-cheek take on warped rock.
Following a trail of singles praised by New York Times, Pitchfork, Stereogum and more, Two Wheels Move the Soul arrives ahead of Robber Robber’s North American headline tour. Throughout March, the quartet will perform a slew of performances, including stops in New York City, Chicago, Washington DC and more. In addition, Robber Robber will play a special hometown album release show at BCA Studios in Burlington, Vermont. A full list of tour dates are below, and tickets are on sale now.
