This Friday, Sleeper’s Bell — the Chicago folk project fronted by librarian/vocalist Blaine Teppema and guitarist Evan Green — will release their debut album, Clover, via Fire Talk Records imprint Angel Tapes. Clover is over a decade in the making and has been teased through a “slow drip-feed” (For The Rabbits) of singles, earning Sleeper’s Bell praise from Paste, The Line of Best Fit, NPR Music, No Expectations, FLOOD and more. Today, Sleeper’s Bell present their new single, “Bad Word,” ahead of this Friday’s album release.
To celebrate Clover’s release, Sleeper’s Bell will play a hometown album release show at The Hideout this Saturday, February 8th. Album collaborator Leo Paterniti will open the show, alongside fellow Chicagoan Henry True. Tickets are on sale now and available here.

'Clover' is the debut LP from Sleeper's Bell, the project of vocalist/lyricist Blaine Teppema — "a librarian during the day [...] her word play moves with incredible incision" (CLASH) — & guitarist Evan Green. Recorded with Jack Henry (Friko, Horsegirl), 'Clover' is a product of Chicago's burgeoning indie scene, offering a more confessional & folk-influenced lens. Instrumentation spans from fiddle (played by Teppema's father) to saxophone, combining an expansive sound with laser-focused lyrics. Sleeper's Bell "shine in layers of musical finery" (For The Rabbits), and Clover assembles Chicago’s finest as Teppema's backing band to spit-shine Teppema's dive bar wisdom into polished folk-rock.
