Whitmer Thomas Signs To Fire Talk & Shares New Single/Video, "Candy Corn" !
Today, comedian/actor/musician Whitmer Thomas announces his signing to Fire Talk Records and presents his new single/video, “Candy Corn.” Over the past decade, Thomas has carved a singular lane for his synthesis of skills, bridging his career in comedy and a knack for "tongue-in-cheek anthem[s]” (UPROXX). Between acting roles in Weapons (2025), Friendship (2024) and Big Mouth (2023-2025), collaborations with Christian Lee Hutson, Jay Som and Great Grandpa’s Al Menne, as well as a self-directed HBO comedy special, Thomas has resisted any one categorization and proved his talents work best in tandem. “Candy Corn” — his first new music following 2025’s Tilt EP and his debut release for indie powerhouse Fire Talk Records — is a refined distillation of Thomas’ keen ability to write music that “demonstrates he’s as talented a musician as he is a comic" (Under The Radar).
Recorded and produced in North Carolina with the virtuosic Brad Cook (Waxahatchee, Courtney Barnett, Fenne Lily), “Candy Corn” leans into the sincerity at the core of Thomas’ music-comedy. “Candy Corn” reflects on Thomas’ adolescent experiences in Gulf Shores, Alabama, looking back on youthful hi-jinx and naivete from the wistful perspective of adulthood. “Flaliling fists in the mosh pit // The future swings and splits your lip,” he sings atop sparse drum programming and delicate guitar, “Thirty seemed elderly // Oh, the agony of aging.”
