ira glass Announces New EP, joy is no knocking nation, & Shares Lead Single/Video
ira glass is the Chicago-based experimental noise rock quartet of Lise Ivanova (guitar/vocals), Landon Kerouac (drums), Jill Roth (saxophone), and Kaleb Wallace (bass). Today, ira glass announce their new EP, joy is no knocking nation, out November 11th via Angel Tapes / Fire Talk, and present its lead single/video, “fd&c red 40.” ira glass craft a cacophony of noise, anchored by a timelessly punk ethos and propelled by poetically hyperspecific references. Following the release of their 2024 debut EP, compound turbulence flexing for the heat, ira glass built solid buzz for their unique blend of screamo, jazz and noise, and collected praise from The FADER, NPR Music, Sound Opinions, Paste and more.
joy is no knocking nation is a 5-track outing that spans spoken-word spells and kinetic climaxes. Lead single “fd&c red 40” is a sprawling post-everything manifesto, ciphered through frontwoman Lise Ivenova’s blood-curdling screams. “This place is infested with prefab freakos,” she intones atop coils of saxophone, drum, and guitar. The track is accompanied by ira glass’ first-ever music video, helmed by PERSON, which collages ira glass’ distinct visual motifs alongside homespun footage shot around the band’s base of Chicago.
