Introducing Starcharm ! Listen to Debut Single/Video, "The Color Clear"
Today, Fire Talk Records’ emerging artists imprint Angel Tapes (Retail Drugs, shower curtain, Jawdropped) is thrilled to announce its latest signing: the Chicago-based trio Starcharm. Starcharm is composed of vocalist/guitarist Elena Buenrostro (she/her), bassist Jasmin Feliciano (she/her), and drummer Amaya Peña (they/them). Born out of Buenrostro’s shuttered recording project Soft and Dumb, Starcharm presents a reconfigured line up and sound, and debuts with the kinetic energy of a new band’s first rush.
Alongside news of their signing, Starcharm presents their debut single, “The Color Clear,” and an accompanying music video. Tracked in Peña’s Chicago apartment, “The Color Clear” combines post-punk guitars with pop structures and noisy impulses. “I’m not the one,” Buenrostro chants atop jangly guitars and steady bass, transforming the mantra into a no-wave scorcher. To celebrate their signing and “The Color Clear,” Starcharm will perform a single release show tonight at Beat Kitchen in Chicago, Illinois. They’ll be joined by Angel Tapes labelmates ira glass, as well as veteran rockers Rat Tally. Shortly after, Starcharm will embark on a string of dates supporting Fire Talk main label alums Dehd, and select east coast headlining dates.
